SEGMENT 1: AGE & FIRST-DAY REQUIREMENTS

Students must be at least 14 years and 8 months old to begin Segment 1 Driver Education.

What to Bring on the First Day

Students must bring:

  • Original birth certificate OR State ID
  • Signed Segment 1 contract from a parent or legal guardian
  • Vision screening documentation

Parent Meeting

The Parent Meeting is not mandatory, but parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend. This meeting provides important information about attendance, classroom requirements, behind-the-wheel training, scheduling, and successful completion of Segment 1.

SEGMENT 1 REQUIREMENTS

EVERY CLASS COUNTS

Attendance is extremely important during Segment 1. Students are expected to attend every class and arrive on time.

If a student is absent or tardy, the missed instructional time must be made up before the student can successfully complete the program.

  • 24 hours of classroom instruction
  • 6 hours of behind-t

Each student must complete 6 hours of driving and 4 hours of observation. Students may not schedule two driving sessions on the same day. Up to 4 students may drive per day.

What to Wear

  • Closed-toe shoes are required.
  • No open-toe or open-heel shoes.
  • Wear comfortable clothing suitable for driving.

Students without proper footwear may not be allowed to drive and may need to reschedule.

Be prepared. Be on time. Drive safely.
